Peeira de Lobos

Designer: Jason

The Peeira de Lobos is a mythological creature from the north of Portugal. Legend says that if the 7th daughter of a couple is baptized incorrectly, she becomes cursed, and depending on the version, either becoming a wolf, or walking with the wolves.

For the moodboard, I gathered images of women in old, traditional portuguese clothing and wolves.

I sought to create feminine silhouettes with visible animal traits. The thumbnails were also divided into different aspects of the characters' mythology.

In these Color studies, I used mostly organic colors, shades of brown and green, something that could camouflage in the woods. Most of the bright and saturated colors are reserved for the clothing.

Along with the character Model sheet, I also made a model sheet for the staff, highlighting some details like the wolf teeth marks and teeth rope.

The first page of Dynamic Poses depicts softer, more casual mundane acts. Walking through the rocky terrain of the woods and caring for the wolves she leads.

The second page depicts a darker environment and a more violent, animalistic nature.

These two pages depict the interesting duality of this character. Despite being cursed, one of the stories describes her tending to a wolf’s injuries, so even if forced, she seems to have a fondness for them.
